English II
Welcome to English II! In this class we will read major works like To Kill a Mockingbird in addition to smaller works of poetry, fiction, literary nonfiction, informational nonfiction, and more in our textbook. We focus on concise, analytical short answer responses and persuasive essays, building vocabulary through reading and writing. As a sophomore, organization is a skill that is imperative! You should have a binder for this class with a section for DLAs (Daily Language Activity - a bell ringer/warm-up activity for every day), Class Notes, and Graded Papers. Being organized will help you immensely when it comes time to complete and turn in homework. I cannot say it enough: organization is key to your success! Your grades reflect your organizational skills as well as your work ethic. Furthermore, organizing your time is important. On days you are absent, it is your responsibility to see me for make up work. Hard work and participation are important for English II. If you do these things and respect each other in class, we will have a successful year!
